motor problem
« on: August 04, 2014, 03:01:27 pm »

Hi
I own a Deans Liberty ship which has run faultlessly for six years, but which
now has developed a problem which I hope someone could throw some light on.
When I operate the motor it runs ok for a few seconds then reverses itself,
after which it will not run at all.  The red and green lights on the receiver flash
on and off, but all other radio aspects ie steering work ok.
I don't know if it is a radio problem or ESC related
Any ideas anyone.

Hi Thunderbird, can you take the servo leads out of the receiver and swap them over? Switch off when doing this then switch back on for the test. Look carefully to see how they fit.

Does the rudder work properly from the old speed stick)?

Does the speed control work from the rudder stick?

If both work then switch the servo leads back and test, if still OK you had a contact problem.

If the rudder does not work and the speed control now works it could be the receiver .

If the speed control still does not work but the rudder works OK then the speed control has failed.

Hope this helps.
regards Roy

Yes NETLEYNED but which one?

After 6 years, probably all of 'em.
I am a little puzzled about the flashing lights on the receiver.  The only ones with any flashing light that I have run across have been 2.4GHz binding lights, but these were rare 6 years ago.
If its an ESC with a relay, the relay might have become old and tired.

If the problem travels with the ESC, thats the prime suspect.  What type is it?  Is there a separate radio battery or a BEC?

Does the ESC have flashing red and green?
Is it plug and play or does it have a set button?
The set button needs to be pressed within 2 secs
of switch on.
Then push stick forward green light
Pull stick back past centre red light.
If none of this works then ESC Suspect.
