Mine is just a play on words. Model submarines is still considered a bit of a black art and somewhat subversive.

A man after my own heart! I had a 1428cc EFE suzi with nitrous running in the streetfighters competition! Gave it up because the missus was worried about injury as I got older I sold it and went down this route....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QQGaxsUUBo  about a minute in, bike number 203 :}

We ran in the original ultimate street bike competitions ,then on to street fighters . Originally n/a with TMC nitrous oxide kit ,then went turbo route .

my name was given to by a manager too many years ago. when he joined the company one of the printing presses broke overnight. there was a lot of work on and we needed every press. He asked all the printers if anyone could fix it, they all said me. When he came back 20 minutes later the press was up and running with an electrical by pass of the duff board and the broken magnetic guard, which now didnt work due to the board, held in place by brown tape string and a lolly stick. he took one look, said I was like Klunk off Catch the Pidgeon and walked away shaking his head. Many times I ended up fixing machinery at night, and he was always amazed at what I used to fix it!

Many years ago I used to build, demonstrate and fire full size 19th century French muzzle loading artillery throughout Europe. These guns were of the "Systeme Gribeauval", named after the guy who designed them, hence the nickname.

Pugwash was the name of my first yacht - a Hunter 27ft which we bought from the son of the
man who wrote all the Pugwash books for kids. In the yacht club I was inevitably Captain Pugwash

Antipodean means "from the other side" so I thought it was good when I moved half way around the world to America.

I agree with Peter - I never could understand why people wanted to hide behind nick names on Forums, so I always use my first name and either one or two initials from my second and surnames.

My name came about because my wife and I rescued and rehomed poorly treated and abandoned Rottweilers for over 30 years.
Despite what people believe,in all that time we only came across one that was aggressive. We also kept a few over the years,and lost our last one about 3 years ago.He was a BIG boy weighing almost 10 and a half stone,but was as gentle as any dog could be.
       Mind you some people say that I bite sometimes!

My username came about from a boat (Marlin) I bought from Fishguard couple of
years back Nordlys  = Norwegian for Northern Lights -I liked the name for the boat so
I adopted it too.

Mine is from one of my motorbikes Kawasaki's Z750. I used to change each time I got a new bike but it got a bit confusing across numerous forums so I stayed with Z750Jay (now on my 2nd bike since the Z, my 10th so far)

I was a carpenter, well I still am but I don't get paid for doing any now. Called The Hammer because if I couldn't do it with a hammer I couldn't do it at all. It measured 14" the distance between studs, joist & rafters. (Before we went metric.) It will make a neat 1 1/8" hole in most thing if hit hard enough. The straight claws are an axe, chisel or wedge, also pulls any thing out.  Of course its a screw driver and it knocks in nails. One thing has always puzzles me, a shipwright using an adze is considered a great craftsman, but a carpenter using an axe is considered a rough hedge carpenter.  When I was flying model & full size I was The Flying Hammer.
