WHICH GLUE
« on: August 14, 2014, 08:19:06 pm »

Hi Guys,
I'm wanting to convert a Paula III by using the hull which I think is ABS plastic  but the rest will be made from HIP or
plain styrene card but find some plastic glues don't like each other  can anyone help with one that will work on both.
                   Thanks,
                        Regards  Howard.

Hi bob,
I understand plastic to plastic but joining abs to styrene is not easy if you don't use the right glue, ie liquid poly, contacta and the likes as put my victoria on hold for the same reasons,But thank you for your reply.
                                Regards, Howard.

M.E.K (methyl ethyl ketone from industrial paint supplies) or Plastic Weld from a good hobby shop. Plastic weld contains m.e.k. These are solvents not glue, they work by slightly dissolving the edges to be joined and dry by evaporation (very fast). As they do so the two surfaces become one, rather like a weld seam in metal.
