Got box built for one of my boats what do u think I should do guys paint it or stain in and then varnish I'm going to be airbrushing the name of the boat on the box and putting some foam on the sides for protection and making a stand to go inside so she's fitted fully and safely what do you guys think
Here's some pics of box and boat inside

Dunno about the boat but it would make a handy carry box for the dog :} :}

I would suggest a coat of Sanding Sealer, smooth it down with 240 then 320 Grit, then Varnish it. If you don't have any Sanding Sealer dilute the first coat with White Spirit, 2 parts varnish and 1 part White Spirit. Sand down as above then 1 or 2 top coats. Don't put neat Varnish straight onto bare wood, you'll never get it smooth.

Does one side drop down to put the boat in? I used web handles on my last boat box.  Provides a good grip and takes up no space when you push the box up against something.

Much, much easier to side load. High probability of snagging the rigging on clothing when top loading (don't ask!) Further you have to bend over. How heavy is the model fully ballasted? Not always an easy manouver.
