r/c model of Plymouth yes, I had a 1:72 scale one sold it on
my friend made an Awesome model of Brighton in 1:96 real master piece O0 O0 O0

Scalewarship do a semi kit in 1:96 and you could use fleetscales leander hull to do it in 1:72scale
with a few mods :-))

just shows how deceptive a photo can be - that black triangle above the chaff launcher looks like a fin - hence why I thought it was a missile, lol

Which illustrates perfectly why models are often a better guide than photos in showing what a ship was like, something most museums seem to have lost sight of or simply don't care about!

Photos and video images take up far less space - hence why museums are turning into a pictoral history showcases, at the naval yard in Portsmouth, they had a model of a post WWII ship (don't remember the name of it) on the deck were hawker furey style of aircraft - except the modeller had made the aircraft with the wings folded - whats wrong with that you ask - he had the bombs attached to the wings that were folded - something I would never expect to see on the actual aircraft, I agree wholeheartedly that its a shame this countries politicians are so short sighted and unpatriotic with our history - only sound biting our histories achievements when it makes them look good.

I think the title of the thread says it all, sad but inevitable. The Plymouth would probably require a dry dock for long term preservation due to her thin hull plating. She appears to be in very poor condition.
There seems little chance of her returning to the UK. The only people likely to benefit now are the legal profession.

"It's better to live in the present!" This is the argument used by many who would rob us of our heritage.  They forget or choose not to remember that without ships like this and the men that manned them they probably wouldn't like the present they are living in.
I think that in the long term, perkasaman is right. a warship of this size is an expensive proposition.  The actions of the company who were berthing the ship are unacceptable as is the removal of exhibits from the ship, most of which were donated by ex crew.  This includes a Wasp helicopter which to appears to be adrift somewhere.  The Trust has already seen some of these items appear on Ebay.

Looks like there is a legal battle ongoing
to save her.
Based on Health and safety because she is
Radioactive.
That would probably ban her as an attraction in
the UK.
Have the trust shot themselves in the foot?

She is at the yard Mick, but the fight goes on apparently.
The radioactive slant is stopping the dismantling I think.

From reading their FB page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SAVE.HMS.PLYMOUTH.OPEN/  it appears to becoming quite a complex situation.

Apparently,  they have a "guaranteed" berth at Plymouth and have access to "cheap" towage, they appear also to have been advised to approach the scrap yard with a view to purchasing the vessel off them.

Fools and money are easily parted in my view though.

All over for HMS Plymouth , BUT , not I think for Peel Holdings which due to the info in the link should be heading to court in the UK for trying to claim they held the right to block the MOD selling any more ex-warships to Turkey...... think this has a while to go yet
