Robbe Jan tug
« on: February 06, 2011, 06:49:47 pm »

I've just won a Robbe Jan kit on ebay for a bargain price. Unfortunately the kit is missing any plans or instructions, so I was wondering if anyone here has built this kit and could post a few pictures. I am most interested in bulkhead positions and waterline. I know I can work both out for myself, but a few pictures would make life a little easier.

Plant wise, I am going to use my Cheddar Pegasus V4 and Protius boiler which will be shared with my Muimota tug.

Thanks in advance.

Hi  ---   built this kit about 8 years ago  --  still have the plans (3 double sided A2 sheets) and a 60 page instruction manual
with photos  ---  be aware the hull is Epoxy so be careful when choosing your bulkhead glue  --  a good kit.
You can find photos on the model tug forum under C-11 and kort nozzles.

Thanks Unicorn,
I did a forum search for Jan, but the results mainly mentioned Jan uary!

I'll go look at those two threads.

Have a look at" rc boat-jan-steam tug " on u tube not a completed boat but gives a good idea of the
            water line.

Thanks.

Looks quite lightly loaded for a model that big.

I should have the kit later this week, so I'll see what is and isn't included.

In my archives I store articles from magazines which may be useful one day! I have a 5 sided article from Marine modelling Aug 2000. The title is Robbie Jan, David Simper fits steam plant into the Robbie tug kit.
You are welcome to have it if you want, pm me with an address if you want me to send it to you.

I e-mailed Robbe at the end of last week, asking if they had a PDF of the instructions, and was a little disappointed not to get any form of reply.

This morning a full set of instructions and drawings arrived in the Post FOC.

What can I say, other than EXCELLENT SERVICE Robbe  :-))

Now all I need to do is make enough room in the workshop, as this is a BIG boat!
