Thats how it came about warspite, that huge ram bow, there is kit available lot of money though, what if the royal had a submarine as big as the bismark, got the plasticard out , found some odd bits of kits, regards pete

Rich you wouldnt believe it mate, it was one of my chores , had to clean it out, i found a badly messed with type 23 , I tried to put weld lines on it mmmmmmmmm, also found a couple of small gas dive units I bought from pandan models years ago regards pete

I worry about me rich, on your u 47 are you using the brass rod and allen key to seal her up, im thinking about getting a bayonet ring from engels for mine, regards pete

I have the bayonet on my sea wolf, needed some minor mods to fit, but is far superior sealing wise.
Norbert bruggens bayonets are cheaper, and pretty much the same as the engel ones. I'm placing an order with him later this month if you want to add it to my order and save on postage.

Pete, my U-47 is pretty much stock, apart from the fact that I added the operating foreplanes via a servo, and did away with that strange brass rod and plastic flag thing. I've never had a problem with the brass rod/allen key set up yet, I did give it a good check over and it seems to be pretty well solid. I really must crack on and get her finished...now I've got a car again, I'd like to be able to get her properly wet.

Although the website is still active, i don't think the decks are still available, as people in the past got no response when trying to contact the owners. So unless things have altered recently, caveat.

In regard to fitting bayonets- nothing difficult on an unbuilt kit, but to fit one on a finished sub would require the removal of the techrack, which is no small task as it's bonded into the endcap.

The standard system does the job, the thing to remember is that Robbe used a special extra soft o-ring for sealing. So if you need to replace it, you really either need an original part or source special extra soft compound o-rings, otherwise you might get leaks.

Ooh, thanks for the heads up on that, Andy...I'll do a bit of digging around on SubCom, see if anyone on there knows anything.

As regards O rings, I was lucky enough to pick up two brand new sets of genuine Robbe ones, amongst various other bits n' bobs, direct from Robbe. I'll not be changing to a bayonet fitting, I had a very close look at the stock fitting on mine, and it looks to be extremely solidly put together.

you also need to modify the tech rack slighty otherwise you cant twist the bayonet (dont ask how I know)

I have some of the robbe o rings that I didn't use if you want them?

My Seawolf is currently on its way to the UK from Finland as I'm now getting the urge to do more work on it :)

The swan is almost finished now, so I guess it'll soon be time to make a start on the U-47. I have two of the new guns built, just one more to go, a new set of much better periscopes ready, and some detail bits for the tower. The aerial wires need replacing, the net cutter needs removing, and the deck needs some attention. Worst bit is where the prop shafts exit the body...that really does need some work to make it look half decent.

Onwards and upwards as they say...
