Moving Planet T5 stick fittings
« on: August 29, 2014, 09:50:17 am »

I've had a look at the thread about fitting a spring and centreing arm -

planet t5 centre arm and spring fitting

my question is along similar lines - rather than buying a conversion kit,
is it possible to move the fittings from the right hand stick (vertical movement parts)
onto the left hand stick so that the throttle becomes spring loaded and centred
(Does that make sense ?!)

I don't see why not.  I did it on a Spectrum as the parts were standard each side.

Whilst you have it apart you will see the shapes of the different parts and might be able to fabricate some news ones yourself.  Let us know how you get on.

Cheers

Watch the spring doesn't go  ' boing'  and keep yourself grounded before touching the  'chips'

Done it!

Took back off. Kept fingers away from Electronics and got a good hold of the spring....

1) extracted the components as shown in Plug's photo 1 from right-hand stick.

2) ratchet bar and screw moved from left-hand stick to right-hand stick.

3) small block with hook and screw fitted back into mounting on left-hand stick.

4) spring hooked onto centreing bar and then small hole drilled into bar and
small piece of brass wire super-glued onto centreing bar to retain spring. (see hook.jpg)

5) 2"-3" loop of stiff waxed thread looped through other end of spring

5 ) Thread fed through under gimbal from end with hinge mount.

6) String pulled up, two pins on centreing bar pushed into mount on gimbal.

7) Thread used to pull top loop over hook refitted in step 3.

8   Check stick movement and all bits sitting in the correct places.

9) Refit back of transmitter

Simples!

Of course it does Ned - %)

providing you carry out step 8 properly! -

Been caught out before like that  -

Do the mods -
Don't check them thoroughly -
Refit the back or cover -
then find there is a fault !
