I just picked this up on another forum.....

There is a notice of closure on their website.

http://prop-shop.co.uk/

All is not lost though, as the gap has been filled.......

https://www.facebook.com/pg/Danatprotean/posts/

I do not know the ins and outs of it all, but the person on the facebook group originally kicked off the prop shop outfit, from what is shown on facebook it looks nice kit.

Simon Higgins is Protean Design and it was him who started Prop Shop. I have bought props from him since he left Swann Castings and can confirm that the quality is still the best you can get and the prices are now much lower than Swann's. Details are

I have had props from Simon from before and during his association with Swann, and even after they went up in price during Swann's reign, they were beautifully made, some cast but always well balanced, and I wouldn't buy any others....he designed special propellers for my Ambulance launches, and sponsored my Loch Ness charity sail by donating 2 x 92mm specially made 3 bladed props for my Clyde lifeboat.........

Simon is a superb guy to deal with and his products are beautiful.

Hi All,
I think your video Martin and the claim to be good advert is off the mark.
Obviously we can all make our own minds up but the videos purports to make comparison between two very different propellers not just in construction but it function.
I love supporting British but don't like supporting in an unfair way!
Regards,
Kim

Does Protean Design have a website these days, or is business handled via the dreaded Facebook?

Bonjour,
Here is my second Simon's 70 mm 4 blades antlclokwise brass propeller, perfect for the 4,5 cm3 Microcosm oscillating bicylinder it is coupled to:  https://youtu.be/vutlswFW4X4
One little concern on this boat, because of its long "nose", I have been obliged to dig a space in the rudder

Simon Higgins - prop shop
« Reply #148 on: January 06, 2020, 08:30:11 am »

Has anyone had dealings with prop shop recently? I just want to ensure that all is well as my order from mid Nov. last is still outstanding, I have not received an answer to two follow-up emails and Simon has always been very efficient in the past.
