Type 42 rudder access

I'm, very slowly, building a Type 42 destroyer. HMS Exeter. I've finally arrived at fitting the rear sub deck and the main deck. Now, if I glue the sub deck in position I cannot then access the rudder arms. Has anyone who has built this model have a cunning scheme for accessing the rudders once the decks have been fitted?
