Les Jones RIP
« on: September 17, 2014, 10:12:30 am »

Les Jones was a member of the Shipwrights Society and was truly a master craftsman when it came to Model building.Les could be seen at some Boat Shows displaying the art of Rope building.A lot of his Models can be seen at the Holyhead Martine Museum.
Les was member of hte Holyhead mountian rescue team for years and also was a fundraiser for the RNLI
He used to be a member on here a few years ago.

RIP Les you will be missed

I knew a Les Jones way, way back...he was a Cygnets man back in the seventies, I guess. Used to race fast electrics back then, he helped me with my Thimble, one of his designs.

I attended his funeral three weeks ago.
Les was one of the most innovative model builders I have ever known and never afraid to "look out of the box" for fresh ideas and construction methods culminating in the wonderful "Duke of Northumberland".
He is and will be much missed by his wife Viv, son Paul and three grand children and by all his many friends.

I should also point out that all his models are on loan to the Holyhead Maritime Museum and have not been donated to the museum.
