Back to model boat building since the 60's
« on: September 17, 2014, 09:53:18 pm »

I am new to model boat mayhem site.
Recently started to build a Fairey swordsman having retired and moved to a location with a garage workshop.
Used to build R/C model boats in the 60's.
Recently bought Model Boat magazine, the last one I bought was 1 shilling and sixpence (7.5p).
Anyone else out there left it this long to resume a hobby?
Regards
Ron

 :-) Hello Ron,

I too am new to Model Boat Mayhem, & from one Newbie to another I say Hello & Welcome :-))

I am not far from you, just in Southampton, but I am 1/2 Caulkhead.

I am also returning to Model Boating, once had a shop bought Severn Class Lifeboat, I have restarted with a Tamar Class Lifeboat that I saved from the Tip. I am not so much building but restoring it, and even converting it to the Prototype version, just for something a little different.

Fairy Swordsman are great craft, so good choice on your part me thinks.

Regards,
John :}

Hello and Welcome Ron.   :-))

I only restarted into this around 3 years ago, having last scratch-built models at a similar time you did.  Somehow other priorities (wife, mortgage, kids) got in the way then, but now I am retired I have a little more time.
