I did see a report a while back which suggested that if the human race ceased to exist tomorrow then it would only take 50,000 years for virtually all traces of human civilisation to disappear and that is just an eyeblink in terms of geological time.
It does make you wonder what might have happened in the past that we are totally unaware of.

It is amazing how strong plants really are. A few years ago, in my working days, we had the car park tarmacked over. It held the cars quite ok, but didn't stop the thistles coming through.
