Hi Mark,

I think you will find it depicts her as she was in WWII, reading the kit description it say's it includes the 2 OS2U kingfisher aircraft which were only carried during the war.

The same goes for 'Missouri' (BB-63) which depicts her as she was for the Japanese surrender.

Both very nice models and can be modified for RC use quite easily.

Best regards.

An old way way to fill the bath.  Sprinkle in some talcum powder and gently place the boat in.  Remove the boat and 'hey presto'  there's your water line.

Cheers

 >>:-( Ken....sorry  :D that's only for a perfectly pre ballasted model....... [fore & aft..+ port & stdb]

Using a flat true surface.........mount the hull on multiple plasticine strips & firmly press the hull until the deck level is in relation the required geometry for [fore & aft..+ port & stdb]

Use a wooden block with a felt tipped marker attached at the nominated waterline ......just slide the block gently run around the full hull perimeter to mark the proposed waterline on the hull..... :-))

HI everyone Bossmark is building this model I think for static use only. I also have this kit and there is no waterline marked on the hull unlike the Arizona. I hope to speak to Bossmark next week . Will be at Telford this weekend if this model is in marine  section I will take some pics that may help.

I'm thinking about this kit as well and came across this etched brass upgrade... does anyone know about it, etc. http://www.micromark.com/deluxe-detail-set-for-trumpeter-1and200-scale-missouri-model-ship,11678.html
Thanks,

Hi Dennis you need a brass etch kit to do the model proud. I can not comment on this one but from the pictures shown it looks a very comprehensive upgrade kit. Are going to build the 1945 version or the earlier version when she carried kingfisher aircraft?

To do the kit justice, I'm currently building the Bismarck from this range for a client; you may well need to invest in some fine tools such as several pairs of fine tweezers one of which should be for working on watch and clock hair springs, (very fine and expensive), lots of sharp blade's and single sided razor blade's, a very hard surface to remove the item from the fret, plate glass is the favourite, a loop to fit on a pair of spectacle's, perhaps a bending tool though I've hardly used mine, a high bench such as used by watchmakers to rest you elbows on and above all else, a steady hand.

This is just for doing the etch included in the kit. The rest is easy pezzie.

USS Iowa in 1943 and 1944 versions: http://www.shipbucket.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2612 Should be a fairly simple matter to determine the waterline for your model.

The folks at Shipbucket.com take ships' appearances very seriously. Worth a look!

My U.S.S. Gearing build is nearly completed. (doing the rigging now... will post final pics soon).. so I'm chomping at the bit for the next project.  The "Mighty Mo" looks like an awesome project, especially with the brass upgrade kit.  Am I understanding this correctly, that you purchase both the main kit and the accessary kit at the same time, then go through the build, throwing away the old part and replacing it with a new one from the upgrade kit, or is the upgrade kit an 'in addion to' kind of thing with this model??  I think the upgrade comes with wood decks.. do those go directly over the original decks?  Man, the price is a killer at almost $600 US, not to mention the huge size and if you build her for static display, the case will be huge as well.  Darn, I just want to build and my wife won't let me hang it over the bed upside down...nobody seems to understand this madness!!
Cheers,
Dennis

She probably wants to wake up every morning safe in the knowledge that she won't find you dead next to her with a ships's stern sticking out of your chest:O)

There is logic in her retiscense. Build something you can take on the water and get the best of both worlds building anf sailing.
