I came across this ,add a small fan bit of a box and you have a box with a fan in it.......OR a smoke unit I am trying to find out the voltage but it does say low voltage  .   Peter

Hi Peter,
You will find that these run off a 24volt transformer.
I bought mine from Maplins on special offer for £4-99p. It is now relegated to a small water feature in my garden.

I tried one from Maplins, couldn't get it to work on 12volt dc.
Took it back for a refund.

Think you'll find they run on 24volts AC and not DC.  Unless you can find some sort of convertor then a 12 volt inverter is required to allow you to plug the mains adapter into 240v ac then the supplied adapter can put out the 24 volts AC required.  Its a lot of bother for a bit of smoke / steam.

I have not tried the unit on 24 volts DC but they may be others that have or found another way around the problem.

I must be lucky, I got my 'smoke machine', from Maplins ( a very small fog maker) which came complete with a 12v transformer both in the same box.   Both work very well indeed   bigH

hi all

somewhere on this Forum, someone has suggested utilising a smoke unit that comes with the push along/childrens version of Thomas the Tank Engine Train - just wondering if anyone followed this up/purchased one and dismantled it for the smoke unit.   I believe they run on a very small voltage.
