I would say he had been collecting his lubricant from a cattle yard, having followed a bull with a shovel.  Increasing the magnet power will improve efficiency, but I suspect the main effect is that he is simulating a series wound motor - good starting performance but very poor speed regulation if unloaded (goes faster and faster until the loosest rotating bit is launched).  As this BS stirrer is running unloaded, there will be plenty of torque being translated into rotational speed because, being unloaded, there is nowhere else for the force to go.
