Seaport Tug prop shaft

<< < (4/4)

david48:
Just wondering is the coupling not held on to the shaft by a grub screw . If it is a red coupling with brass inserts thy should just slide out but the brass insert will be left on the shaft or the motor shaft . Can you see the tube at the motor end ,and if there is room can you get a clamp type oiler on the shaft . It is not best practice but you could try and drill the tube with the shaft in place ,it will not need a big hole then fit the clamp type oiler . All thi if you only have space to work ,I have not seen in a Seaport

After all this,
Mayhem we have a problem :-)
My conversion which is still used by the grandsons
developed a problem.
Running well out of the water but about two mins in it.
Running on 6 v sla found a cell had gone down.
Changed battery same problem.
After suspecting esc wiring etc
I found the prop was tending to sieze.
The fault was the bone half of the coupling.
It had split and was allowing the shaft to
run back letting the spline bit jam in the
Stern tube
I can probably drill through the bone and shaft
and put a pin through, but a new bone would be the best
answer. Any one out there with one in the
come in handy box?
