Greeting from Birkenhead,Merseyside.
« on: December 23, 2014, 05:07:40 pm »

Hello, my name is Duncan.I am relatively new to modelling, though did alot in my younger days. I have a few tanks, but recently bought a boat, (hull and deck only).I am converting it to an American gunboat ,circa Vietnam). It is 6th scale, 4' long, crew of 3 with twin scews.I am not very confident or knowledgable with electrics, so expect my pleas for help to  be about this.I have bought 2 Graupner 700 BB turbo engines, 2 Fusion speed controllers and a sound module.I also want to get a smoker.I am using a Futuba T7C transmitter.(I use for my tanks).I am still working on the deck bits'n'bobs, but when I come to wiring the whole thing up, will give you a shout. There is a good model shop in Frodsham and I have joined the local Hoylake Model Boat Club, where I got a friendly welcome.
.I look forward to sharing my problems and hopefully helping out where I can with others.
Cheers

Welcome aboard Duncan, if you are up Southport way we sail at the Jubilee pond near the funfair and have several open days each year. Have a look on the Southport model boat club site for the 2015 dates we get quite a few visitors so all are welcome.
         Cheers,
               Peter.

Hi Pad (Mersey ferry),
Apologies only just spotted your post, yes the Jubilee pond is at the South end of Rotten row i.e. towards Birkdale/Ainsdale we sail every Wednesday from 10ish and sunday from 10ish. If you look on the Southport model boat club site the dates of the open days are there, last year we were busy due to a lot of clubs not being able to sail on their ponds with weed issues. We have been lucky but do keep on top of everything. Hope this helps.
      Cheers,
         Peter. :-))
