Cap Valiente
« on: October 27, 2014, 08:18:27 pm »

Hello!
Found this one at a selling site, turned out that the seller lived only five minutes from me! The seller was a very pretty young woman, (wich has no relevance at all to this story!) and it was built by her grandfather. I asked her if she really wanted to sell this legacy from her grandfather. She replied that she and her mother had more than enough of his things and that she wanted it to end up with someone who could appreciate it for what it is. I promised to do so and bought it from her at the given price of 50Ģ!! It's not all correct and the finish ain't perfect everywhere, but it has a lot of character! I'll see what I end up doing to it if anything. She has motor installed. Ps. When I googled the name of the vessel it turned out that she had been on charter for the Swedish company Sale'n for sometime.
All the best!

Did a bit more "googling" and found out that this is actually an old Robbe kit! Anyone here have any experience of it?

Cap Valiente is a wooden kit. They also made a kit of Cap Domingo with a plastic hull, someone mentioned that this one was 5cm too wide. Both were made to 1:100.
Internet is a fantastic place!

Saw this this ad on blocket, good that you got it so cheap, there is a ad on a Cap Domingo fairly cheap on the Danish opposite site

Is the ship converted to rc or is built as static model?

Cheers

Hey, thanks for that! Food for thought, as I have all the fittings and upper works!

Sorry Jack, I missed your question. It's built to sail, motor is fitted so I assume that the builder sailed her.

Hi Hama.
I have the plans for the ship if you need a copy.  Robbe did the kit with wood hull and styrene hull.  I have a styrene hull version to restore.
lots of photos on the net.
There is also the Cap Sandiego.
