Vintage Model Boats
« on: November 01, 2014, 10:05:01 am »

I am starting to build a Wavemaster 25, but immediately problems. I glued two breasthook pieces together but when offered up to the keel the tab on the keel was too short and the top of the breast hook was above the top of the first bulkhead. What guys have I done wrong?

Did you try a dry run first  ?

Perhaps a few pictures might show the problem.

It's supposed to be like that!  If you have a look at my build http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,40484.0.html
You'll see that the breast hook sits on top of the keel and the gap allows the stringers to be joined at the peak of the bow.  Once the skins are applied you can fit the rubbing strake around and they can be joined at the peak too.
What you do have to watch for is using the supplied drawing as a guide for the laser cut part, they don't match.  The drawing is a copy  of the old Hammersmith model  kit and the modern parts are slightly different.  Build to the engraved marks on the wooden pieces
