Subject: Heartless Thieves Steal ILS Engines
• No impact on running days……we ran on Saturday & Sunday for private pre-Christmas parties……same next weekend
• The gates are securely locked….we though the buildings were too…this will now be upgraded
• They used two wheel barrows to transport the engines to the roadway through the bushes on Squires Way
• Each engine has a unique serial number stamped into the boiler for the steam certificate….so they cannot be sold
• Every time an owner goes to an alternate venue, he must display his valid boiler certificate & S/n witnessed before firing the boiler
• All model steam clubs in Australia are affiliated …so each club was contacted on Saturday afternoon with picture detail & S/n etc
• One thought is they were stolen for the copper boiler for scrap $ money
• Remember a year or so ago morons stole brass plaques from the Crematorium then took them to a scrap metal dealer….who called the police
• The
today will contact all NSW scrap metal dealers that are on their database register
• One of the engines took the owner approx 5 years to build
• Thanks Barb….I knew you tell other steamers………………….

Hi Dad
I was planning to call you about this today. How awful! Did it impact on the running days on the weekend? Do the police have any clues?
Xx

I saw this on the Lost Wollongong Facebook page and I shared the story to some of my railway friends. They will keep their eyes & ears out
