ESC for a HobbyKing Princess
« on: November 04, 2014, 07:28:27 pm »

I'm going to order a HobbyKing Princess, link below. She comes with a 1604KV Brushless Motor fitted, and a 4000mah 3S 20C Lipo is recommended. It suggests fitting a Water Cooled 125A ESC. Can anyone recommend which ESC would be suitable? There are several to choose from, but i haven't got a clue what the differences are between them. Also if Reverse Function is not explicitly shown, does that mean it doesn't have it? TIA.

I canīt really suggest an ESC from HK.
I use the Roxxy 9xx ESC only, made very good experience with them once and then never changed.
I just heard that the Boat ESC from HK have a lot of problems, like burning motors without load...

But you should rethink the "reverse" thing. As far as I know the Princess is equipped with a flexible shaft.
These can only be run in one direction.

These two have reverse:

As Time Bandit said, flex shaft aren't designed to run in reverse. You should only reverse at low speed if there's no other option.

The hobbyking 90a marine ESC are great. I have them in a few of my boats.
