Hallo all, I am posting pictures of a model that is already done, unfortunately the image sizes of complete build pics are too large to post here so these are low density recent pictures.
The full build can be found here:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2204035Here is the story:
This is a scratch build of a 1939 Jubilee Class Thames River Tugboat.
"Silverdot" was built by James Pollock Ltd., Faversham. YN1737, United Kingdom in 1939.
One of 14 Jubilee Class Tugs built between 1934 and 1941, these tough littleTugs moved barges, ships and all manner of floating trade during the pre-war years.
Intended for canal use, these “Tosher” tugs were designed with a low profile to make it possible to pass under the many low bridges in the huge labyrinth of canals in England, many of which were constructed by the Romans during their occupation.
Several of these old Tugs are still used today ~ built to last, they are well suited to retrofit.
We have only two pictures of this subject, a black and white taken during the 40’s and a color image as she sits dry and renamed “Tucit”, waiting for high tide and resumed labor.
Not having plans, information from several of her sisters will be used to build this model.
Ready for a transformation / updgrade, a Mountfleet Models "River Queen" built in the U.K. in the 80's was sourced for this build, the scale and shape are just right.
The original model has been well retired, repurposed as a real boat would be …..
