ESC for Revell Type VII
« on: November 09, 2014, 07:07:52 am »

I have one of Big Dave's experimenter WTC kit for the Revell 1/72 Type VIIC. I already have acquired the recommended GWS-GW-LPS-RXC-CS motors. My problem now is locating the appropriate ESC for the said motors. BD recommends using either the Mtronik microviper 10 or Novak Spy.

As much as possible I want to procure the items I need through the local market. Unfornately the aforementioned esc are not available locally. Most of the RC shop here cater to RC aircraft BL motor community. The shop where I got the motors got some brushed esc but those are for planes. I want one with reverse functions.

I found an online seller selling a TEU 105BK like this one http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCLHS.

Will this work with the GWS motors?

Mtroniks sell off some esc's that they randomly test from the production line at a decent price, I buy all mine that way. Look on their website, scroll down the left side of the page, and you'll see the section...you can save a good few quid that way.

As much as I would like to get the Ex Demo Mtronik Viper 10 for £17.50 I'm put off by the shipping charge. It cost almost the same as the item!  That's one reason I want to source locally.

I managed to get hold of the specs of the GWS LPS motors but I can't understand the values in the small table under the photo as to how many turns the motor has. http://www.gws.com.tw/english/product/powersystem/012.htm
According to Tamiya's site the TEU 105 is not meant to be used on motors below 25 turns.
