Visiting Copenhagen
« on: November 13, 2014, 05:03:11 PM »

I'm travelling to Copenhagen in a couple of weeks. Can anyone recomend anything of a maritime nature worth visiting? Museums / Model Shops etc?
Thanks,
Charlie

Nyhavn is a must for old working vessels.
Some decent drinkeries and eateries there
also.

Just north of Copenhagen (short train ride) is the Danish Maritime Museum in Helsingör. Despite it being only a short boat ride away I have yet to visit.....

The Tojhus museum is relatively central and has lots of artillery

The Orlogsmuseet is a bit further out and is the RDN museum

There are not that many modelboatshops left in Denmark.

A 45 min taxi ride (exspensive) from Cph is the  specialised modelboat shop www.modelskibet.dk

In Roskilde a 45 min train ride from Cph is the Viking museum http://www.vikingeskibsmuseet.dk/en/

In Cph http://http://natmus.dk/en/orlogsmuseet/orlogsmuseet/

In Elsinore you will find the Maritime Museum of Denmark http://mfs.dk/en/

When will you be in Cph and is it vacation or work ?

Carsten (Located 40min south of Cph)

Watch how you pronounce the name. I believe the locals would be unhappy to hear it pronounced Copen-hargen rather than Copen-haygen. It's to do with some earlier tourists who arrived with a lot of luggage and outstayed their welcome.
