   wife said to me today have not received our cold weather payment yet. my reply might not get it our pm has just given away £6oo million to the green  people over  seas

You will get it, my Wife has just received notice of her share so I should get mine soon.

Strictly speaking we could do without it but it is our entitlement after paying taxes continuously since the 1960s so we will accept it. If they change the law to make it means tested and we cease to get it then we will accept that too.

As pensioners we have done reasonably well over the last few years but on the other hand we have had virtually no income from our savings due the the Government subsidising mortgage holders at ridiculously low rates of interest to prop up a dysfunctional housing market, a situation which seems to be set to continue indefinitely. We paid through the nose in terms of interest when paying off our mortgage so I make no apologies.
