RE Fitting Robbe Seawolf
« on: November 22, 2014, 11:57:07 am »

HI Guys after being stuck in my workshop for years I have finally got round to doing something with this model. A new battery has been fitted and the whole lot needed a rewire, new push roads fitted and the old conning tower was removed. I constructed a new tower using plastic card sheet, new scopes fitted and various small details. The tower is made to free flood with small holes in the tower roof to allow the air to escape when diving. It is now ready for its final sanding then Halfords grey primer will be applied and finally into the paint shop. More pictures to follow.

It's a big old fin you've got on the top of the boat. You may find that induces quite a lot of roll when you turn.

I think you will need a bigger holes than what you have to let air escape. May cut out the bottom of the bridge.

Seawolf's work very well. Was the best of the budget sub kits I think, so too bad they're no longer in production, as they represented a fairly inexpensive route into the hobby.

Three 4mm holes drilled one at each end of the fin and one in the centre will be sufficient, go smaller and surface tension will block them up first time you submerge and trapped air will knock your trim out.

If you find there is too much roll induced by the fin, I would reduce the height by 50%, then it should work really well.

HI Guys The model is now in the paint shop. Hull below the casting is painted with Humbrol 100 red/brown and I have just started to mask off to paint the top.

Nice, go with an 'off black' rather than straight black. add a bit of light grey or light red/brown to the black, should give it a bit of a cool look in different lights.

Hi guys the paint job is just about finished now. Odd decals to fit then varnish the whole lot. I hope to have her on the water or under it early in the new year.

Very nice work sir! You turned a bin worthy item into a piece for the mantle. Look forward to the maiden voyage report.

Finally got round to taking some shots of the internals of this dynamic diving sub. I have fitted a new drive battery new rear vane servo and rebuilt the levelling device. Enjoy the pictures.
