I made my first serious effort to at doing some exercise this morning, venturing to the paper shop for my copy of the Daily Mail.  No real side effects were encountered, but I'm a bit reluctant to lug a camera around at present still and I can't drive yet, apparently.

So, in the meantime I've had to miss all this lovely winter sunshine and try and get my head around some video editing software which  I have subscribed to. It's broken a habit of a lifetime do so and it hurts, it really does  <:( But as I have a camera, two in fact, which shoots video as well as stills I had shot some stuff last year but I had no real idea of how to edit it properly.

When I became tired of doing that and listening and trying to make sense of the tutorials on the subject I had a look at some pictures. I came across the file for the 2005 IFOS event. As some my know I had the privilege of covering this event for a certain modelling magazine; this enabled me to gain images which were denied to the public at large.  There are several thousand pictures in the file and only about .05% have seen the light of day.

So, instead of a JJ a Jolly sail might fill the bill for a while.  Others will follow if the is sufficient interest.

Morning LB!

would you like me to respectively Watermark the unwatermarked photos for you?

Martin

May I suggest that you watermark or otherwise identify your work before you post. Otherwise posting on a forum like this effectively puts them in the public domain. You will notice that Martin watermarks his original stuff. Lovely photos by the way.

Recovery is progressing, I hope, but feel quite lightheaded and weak at times which I presume is caused by the pill's they have given me; anyway I see the Doc later this week for a check up.

Video editing coming along quite well also which, to date, is quite easy - once you've mastered the basics. So, I should reasonably proficient for my nephews wedding in September which I've been told I'm doing.

In the meantime:

This class are Russian built and their gas turbines are notorious for smoking when cold, the Captain was really embarrassed by it; virtually all the people on the Round Tower were coughing and sputtering for ages after she went past.

All the pictures in this series where taken on the Solent and in Portsmouth which are foreign water for me ;)

First JJ with cameras for six weeks, HMS Lancaster departing Liverpool for wherever; this was followed by one my lady friend's moggies doing a runner after I got back in and still missing at time of writing (2000), they only arrived on Friday so much worry and upset, the drama is just to much! Though I suspect that Fluffy Puss is not to upset about the on-going situation.

Endeavouring to return to some form of normality after the events of two months ago but, it's not as easy as one had hoped. Climbing the stairs is the a bit of a problem at times and I find myself short of breath for no apparent reason at times as well, this is not helped by people telling me that I've lost all my colour and that I don't look well at all. (ones sister, a recently retired practice nurse though, this had changed a couple of days later).

However, whilst I've not been on anything like an extended JJ I have picked up the camera bag and put in the back of the car so that at least I can have a jolly drive.  To alleviate the carrying of said bag, I have thought of several scenarios, ranging from an electric chariot and trailer, This would have an extended use as a model transport as well thus circumventing parking and access problems at the NB lake to having a special belt made, to which I can attach a two wheeled shopping trolley and tow it behind me.  The latter has yet to come to fruition as, at present, I'm unable to find a manufacturer of such accoutrements.
Nonetheless,  I've been out with the camera and have come across the vessels below over the last week or so.

1) Lokholmen built in 2009 inwards for The queen Elizabeth oil dock at Eastham on the 22nd March.
2) Mersey Spirit. 1996, outwards for Irish Sea ports.
3) Willem van Oranje. 2011 currently dredging sand in the approaches to Liverpool and Liverpool Bay this is then pumped ashore and used as in fill for the new container terminal currently under construction.
4) Arco Beck. 1989. currently dredging Garston Dock and dumping in Liverpool bay.
5) Mississippi Star. 2010, a chemical/oil tanker inbound for the QE11 oil dock at Eastham.

To continue:

The following day the 24th March my JD resulted in observations of the following:

1) Sea Jack, 2003, This is a jack up rig and is currently employed in installing the piles  for the new sea wall for the new maga container terminal currently under construction at Liverpool. it is supposed to be operation by the end of this year, 2015, believe that if you will. she is seen here shifting her position by approximately 1 length.
2) DS Blue Ocean, 2007. A feed container vessel swing for the Gladstone Lock.
4) Anmi, 1992. Inbound for wherever.
3/5)Atlantic Conveyer, 1985. Built to replace a vessel of the same name lost in the Falklands Campaign. Now coming to the end of her working life she is due to be replaced by a new vessel currently under construction in China. At thirty years of age these five vessels have outlived virtually all their Contemporary's by a wide margin without any major problem or delay occurring.
6) Thun Galaxy, 2001, inbound for the Manchester Ship Canal.

Movement information principally comes from three sources Viz: Liverpool AIS, this also has a forum with more in-depth information and pictures and covers the whole of the UK and parts of Europe:
http://www.shipais.co.uk/index.php?map=IrishSea
http://forum.shipais.co.uk/

Marine Traffic is well worth watching and is World wide: http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/

I have a marine band scanner as well for more local information much of which is not available to the public as a whole.

Added to this is much local knowledge and contacts.

To complete the latest batch here are some images of 1) the Scottish ferry Hebrides arriving at Cammell Lairds for her annual re-fit and the dredger Willem van Oranje leaving the cruise terminal after bunkering, a crew change and the load of fresh vitals. these are followed by the larger tanker Sks Tanaro 1999, 109787dwt, inbound for the Tranmere oil terminal.
