Liberty Ship Build.
« on: December 05, 2014, 07:12:02 PM »

I purchased a Scale Ship Yard Liberty ship hull many years ago. Had mad a start on her but then got carried away on the Richelieu. I have since passed her onto a friend to complete. Here I will post photos of her progress.
He has done in 3 weeks more than I had done in 10 years.

At least this way there will be two nice models completed fairly soon rather than one left gathering dust. If built to the same scale as the Richlieau, she will be an impressive ship.

Yes she is 1:96 as are my Missouri, Fletcher and the Richelieu. I will make all my ships to this scale.

I would love to but space dictates that I look for subjects that max out at less than five feet. I am pleased to say that many Pre WW1 Capital ships work out to this specification, so i do not have to limit myself to destroyers and craft.

I might make a few larger models but will probably enjoy them for a season and then sell on to fund the next project.

Well my friend has made cracking progress on her now.
She is painted and awaiting the rigging. Looking mighty fine and will be impressive on the water.

Latest update. She has been launched and sea trials conducted. All went as planned and sailed beautifully I hear. Now back in yard for final fit out.

Just like the real things! She looks a gem especially with the hold covers.
