Brilliant discriptions & customer reviews!
« on: December 11, 2014, 10:45:33 AM »

Just browsing something on the Maplin site, this line in a customer review really made me smile.... ( MMS ?!! )
   {-)

Radiator Booster explained

Sometimes it makes you wonder what planet people are on ! The Rad booster is an excellent piece of kit which helps improve
the hot air circulation from your radiator. Yes it is a 500mm long plastic box open underneath with a PC sized 40mm fan at the
open end. Because of it's small size ( the fan only uses milliamps to work ) the annual cost to run is probably lower than 10
(it's going to be that low I can't be bothered to work it out !). The fan has an inbuilt thermostat and only kicks in at a rad temp
over about 70 deg, because it's a 40mm fan it's output is similar to a hamster breathing hard, surprisingly that amount
is just fine !

The increased convection helps my room heat up approx. 40% quicker than it did before, because the heat is released from the
radiator the heating has to replace it (it's on it's own thermostat remember) so the radiator regains it's heat quickly and then the
room stat turns the Central heating off in a reduced time frame and reduces my gas bill...with me so far ?

The noise from the PC sized fan is a little louder than a computer being a very low pitched hum, not intrusive and because it's saving me money and making me warmer I find it comforting ! Now to the crux of what some people perceive as a problem,
when the radiator is turned off by the Central heating the fan continues running whilst ALL the heat trapped in the radiator is
released. Some people think it is circulating cold air...why ? the air remaining behind the radiator or between the panels on a
double panel rad is still warmer than the air in the room. Relax and let the fan bring it out, it doesn't create a draft (some have
already complained the fan doesn't  move hardly any air !) and the fan will shut off soon enough. I have three of them, best
"gadget" I've ever bought and definitely  "does what it says on the tin" you just have to know what you're reading !

:-)) Some years ago I decided to shave my beard off, disaster the grand daughter cried when she saw me,dog bit me,wife would not talk to me(well that was not too bad) and I came out in a terrible rash,so think carefully before reaching for the razor, shaving is a dangerous sport to be avoided,Ray. {-) {-) {-) {-) {-)
