Prelude- Largest ship ever built!

Quite a feat of engineering to launch something this big! 600.000 gross tons that's a helluva big boat.

A bit of a frost really - a floating gas processing tank, but not a real ship that goes places.

a mate of mine from old school days is a senior engineer with shell and is working out that way at the moment.......he emailed me a couple of weeks ago to say he was going to look over a new  "ship" as he called it .......will have to ask him if this is the one, and see if he has any photos once on board.........interesting :-))

A few of my old colleagues jumped ship [iron ore & coal] to work as Chief Engineers on LNG carriers from the NW of OZ to Asia........

Naturally a requirement apart from their qualifications was that they are non smokers  {-) .....

Apart from that the vessels did not need conventional bunkers   <*<...they just used the boil off from the cargo as the source of fuel..........Derek
