Some of you chaps are a bit keen! - I loaded my original posting, looked at it to check it was OK,
(which it wasn't) and while I was clearing the rubbish out of the post and correcting it, one person
(quite correctly) tells me the original posting was duff!, and then the Mod deletes my (corrected) image!

perhaps there should be a 5 minute pause between posting something and it going 'live' on the forum!

Was it just Liz and I or did anyone else see the ARGOS TV advert which showed a bog-standard hair-drier at "only £289.99"? Needless to say their website doesn't show such a thing, but it got me doing exactly what ARGOS wanted - which was look at their website.
It's not quite subliminal advertising (which is definitely illegal) but it ain't far off. I wonder if anyone has referred them to Trading Standards?

I thought I saw something like that, it was flashed on and off screen so quickly
that like you, I thought I was 'seeing things'!

Another of TV companies/advertisers bad habits.

Two of their rules nowadays, please feel free to add your own to this list . . .

1) No image shall remain on screen longer than 0.5 seconds
2) No programme or programme credits will allowed to complete without
the image being cranked down to half size and some Prat blabbering on
about what's coming next or later.

note: I use Programme when talking about entertainment  %% and Program
when referring to Computer Programs (I'm a retired Software Engineer)

Very true it makes me feel sick and dizzy sometimes! - the laugh is that quite a few
advertisers do this when they put up a text message telling you about their product
or where to find - it ain't there long enough to read it, so the Advertisers are wasting
their money really!

Last night on television.....I saw a Dremel type tool with a flexible drive & all with a kit of 150 attachments........[for no additional cost] %)

Naturally with a set of 6 Swiss steak knives just a free bonus O0......but wait  {-) there is more.......but alas ....no price

So I rang the 130000000xxx000 number & and Indian sounding female [well it could have been a transvestite?] greeted my call with...."are you using MasterCard of Bankcard for your purchase?""

My response was ....."firstly I would like to know the cost in AUD$"

The response was  ok2 no-no-no ......we don't provide pricing over the telephone.....but one of our consultants will call you to confirm this

At approx. 0430 this morning my mobile rang  >>:-(..........[like who from my family would telephone at that hour unless it was bad news?]

How silly of me to think such things........it sounded like the same Indian person I had spoken with some hours earlier  {-)

To cut a long story ....the cost was only $25.00 first payment followed by 6 x $50.00 payments over 6 weeks....... [$350.00].... BUT there was no delivery fee that was usually $50.00

Terms and conditions sounded OK........If I didn't like the electronic tool I could return it for a full refund...but I could keep the 150 piece attachments....however there was no clear understanding of what would happen with the 6 Swiss steak knives  :P

So after due deliberation I suggested I would need to consider such a purchase.........well  %%...the response to this was "if I concluded a transaction by me providing my credit card detail now......I would get two of the amazing electronic tools for the cost of one  >>:-(

There is an Indian restaurant just around the corner  :o ........ if I ever had the need or misfortune to enter such an establishment I would pay cash rather than trusting them with my credit card details......Derek
