Just a couple of possible no-shows:
Metcalf Mouldings - Dave and Anne have retired. I think the business has been 'absorbed' into Models by Design.
Miskin Models - website no longer operates. I'd heard that John Gittins ceased trading last year - this seems to indicate that was correct  http://miskin.cylex-uk.co.uk/company/miskin-models-19668925.html

(Of course some of us aren't allowed to retire..........................)

Thanks Dave for the list and thanks Dave M for the updates,

Now I can get down to list making.

Contacted Mark about a list of traders, had a prompt email reply saying that there were two reasons why he did not publish a list  the second one was that in the past competitors has asked for a list so that they could go to the traders on the list and invite them to their show.

In the poo now Stavros.

See you all Saturday

Paul.

Easy-peasy, young man. I shall be hiding inside a grumpy fat-suit at the end of the CompShop stand...... Just don't ask for a discount or credit.  <*<

Go on, dare ya …… ask for 75% off and 25 years to pay. It's time the wise one from Nottingham got all charitable …… and if all else fails say that Natasha said it was OK.

I can detect a 'Noisy Thing' being programmed to repeat "BAH HUMBUG" for the whole weekend. Although if you really want to please Mr Inertia then programme one to play a female singer reciting old war time songs.

"Blue birds over the white cliffs, etc, etc" …… come on Dave ….. sing along !!!! {-) {-) {-) {-)

Then I shall take my earplugs and my stick-on theatrical grin. If the mood takes me I may even wear one of my 'special' Tee shirts (you'll know....)  :o
I like doing repairs; they make me £Money8)
As for discounts etc, you will be politely but firmly directed up the management chain to Iain - he's the boss.  O0

Just got back from Coalville, enjoyed catching up with everyone and getting some parts for maintenance and new projects! Well done to the organisers. :-))

A quick question since my camera has given up the ghost (strange how it survives the Falklands but a car trip from work ruins it!), did anyone get the details of a model on the Ship Finder General stand of, I think, a Venezeulan warship with 6 guns along the sides, a torpedo tube launcher on the quarter deck and some mines on the back. Black hulled with many crew approx 1/48 scale and was for sale. I'm just interested if it was a made up vessel or it's based on a real subject, it was called 'Volcano' but I can't find anything on the web. It was approx 1890 to 1910 kind of period warship and I can't find a Venezuelan warship with that name. Any ideas...

I think this may have been the Volcano torpedo handing ship. This kit was made by Caldecraft  Frank Hinchcliff many years ago. It was removed from the market due to poor sales.  To see one will be very rare  so get out your camera and let see some pictures.

Stan,

The Caldercraft kit was the Vulcano, a torpedo handling ship. http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=26229.0

Many years ago there was a kit of a 19th century cruiser called Volcano but I'm not sure who made it. I seem to recall that Dave Abbott reviewed it in Model Boats and I remember seeing it at the Model Engineer exhibition. It had a black hull above water and green below. I think it was classed as a torpedo cruiser. That might jog somebody's memory.

If it was the "Vulcano", it was Portugese, so it wouldn't appear in a Venezualan list.

Thanks guys

I found some pictures of her online from some old build threads after I was informed by Stan of what I was looking at Coalville. Eventually I found her in one of old Janes books in the Portuguese section and thought she looked British and I was right, built by Thornycroft in 1910!

Thanks guys, amazing what the mayhem members can find out for you :-))
