not to mention the old wooden roller coaster ride in Margate collapsing due to the wind (disused for years, but with a preservation order on it).

Ferry off Corfu onboard video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiNMEuLZPNU

Apparently there are 4 helicopters but they can only take 2 people at a time which are being transferred to a nearby ship. Each transfer is quoted as taking 15 minutes. It is dark there now. A nightmare situation for those left on board.

It appears to be the New bits added that blew down.

The evacuation of MV Norman Atlantic was completed earlier today (Monday).
Death toll is at 10. It still may rise when the ship is towed to a, port and inspected. Italy and Albania are deciding which port it will be towed to.

It has been suggested on another Forum that this route is used by illegal immigrants who stow away in vehicles. I hope it wasn't true on this occasion.

Why can't the ship just be sent back to where it originated from, Turkey, otherwise once let loose inside Europe many of them will abuse the free borders principle and head for Calais.

Its simple really we UK people comply with the EU rules etc, however the Spanish seem to ignore the rules as in gunboats in the Med turning back Morrocans and blatantly ignoring the fishing rules. Soapbox now packed away until 2015 (praise the lord said S.W.M.B.O.)

I was under the impression that Norman Atlantic was Italian owned and registered and travelling rom Greece to Italy. Are you confusing it with the Blue Sky M full of migrants and abandoned by the crew in the Adriatic?

Now that may be a worrying trend in the get rich quick business. 'Borrow' a big ship, sell tickets to a few hundred illegals ("Sorry mate, cash only"), start the engine, point it at Europe, go home with your 'earnings'.
