800mAH AA size sounds very low, the "normal" capacity these days tends to be in the 2000-2500mAH range.  With rechargables, my experience has been that you get the value that you pay for.  While they worked OK over a weekend, they might not be very happy after a few cycles, and with such a small capacity, they will need more frequent charging. Plus side is that they will charge faster on the same charger.
Are these the ones? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lloytron-Rechargeable-800mAh-Batteries-Pack/dp/B003CKH5K8/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1423514798&sr=8-7&keywords=rechargable+aa+battery

Just a thought but can you weigh them and compare with other AA cells you have?  Seems very low Ah capacity.

For a Transmitter or receiver that capacity is OK. For powering an electric motor they wouldn't last long.
