Epoxy from amazon
« on: January 04, 2015, 01:08:01 pm »

has anyone used this? Was surfing to find some epoxy because I've run out again!  >>:-( I've decided to buy big because I seem to use loads. Normally I buy the Gorilla epoxy in the twin syringe so the mix is alway great but it's really expensive. Any and all thoughts would be massively appreciated! 7701007 5kg Low Cost General Purpose Resin and Catalyst (100g) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B006DY1QXW/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_7ItQub00KTPBM

HI Peter

Be careful with this, it looks like it is lay up resin as in moulding with glass cloth and mat, i dont think it is adhesive type resin and not epoxy

Hope this helps.

Try Hobbyking website, they do a decent epoxy for about 60p per tube, remember to go on the UK site not the international.

This is a laminating epoxy not a glue. Good if you are repairing glass hulls or moulding but not so good if you want to stick things together.

I've just read the specs and it turns out to be polyester and not epoxy. This stuff has been pre-accelerated so it shelf-life will be limited. Unless you have a large laminating job to do fairly soon then it's not a good buy.
You might have a shufti at the range of modelling adhesives produced by Deluxe Materials. You may be using epoxy where other cheaper adhesives would do the job as well or better.

Thank you so much for the fast replies! the job is to fill the moulding holes on the bottom of the decoy duck. I was going to use epoxy because that's what's I'm most familiar with. What would be the best for this job? Here is a pic!

Car body filler?
If you can get some of the pro stuff, it is much cheaper than the diy stuff like Isopon.

HI Mate

Try your local car body supplier they will have all you need, some can supply in the size you want.

Also they can advise what type you need, another way is to talk to a body shop, my local one has even sprayed bits and pieces, he still thinks im mad but hey he helps me!!!!
