Do you have a local model shop? They usually stock balsa or spruce of that dimension in 36" lengths.
The local B&Q also stock long lengths of strip, you might get some there - it may be the right thickness but not square and you'll have to strip it yourself.

Pretty much answered that question yourself!

Model shops got under cut by the Internet shopping revolution, cheap imports direct from manufacturers and people wanting the best for nothing.

I still have a stock of balsa/ spruce at home after I closed my model shop last year. I could check when I get home this evening and let you know if you can wait until then.

for the gentlemans runabout

strips are for frame of boat, so balsa ?

first skin again balsa strips

for outside,  like the look of mahogony as in spindrifts boat but anything that's suitable really

ps no band saw, early days for me

Evening Mike,
Been up to the garage, only got 5 lengths of 1/8th obechi , some sheets of 1/8th balsa.... Looks like my wife's been selling whilst I've been at work.
