Dave is it necessary to still use capacitors on motors with the 2.4 systems now prevalent? I think I read someplace that they are not affected by motor 'spikes'

Makes sense that if suppressed, then you can forget about the type of Radio, even when switching motors to other boats or using other Radios. O0 O0 O0

Those capacitors do two jobs. One is to reduce/remove the effect of sparking at the brush/commutator which causes RFI. This isn't a problem with 2G4 radios because of the frequency of the sparks BUT the second one is to smooth out any voltage spikes in the back EMF from the motor - and this can affect any radio, so best to fit them. Brushless motors are subject to entirely different rules.
