Another old Spearfish
« on: January 12, 2015, 10:32:36 am »

Morning all, Looking for some help on a motor and ESC for my old MFA Spearfish.

I've nearly finished my narrowboat build and keep looking at the old Spearfish sat on the shelf. It needs a bit of restoration, so while I'm at it was thinking of going brushless.

At the moment it has an old what I think is a 600 size motor in there and it really struggles on the water.

I've been searching google but to be honest I get a bit lost with all the figures when it comes to brushless.
So has anyone here gone down this route with these old girls? and what would you recommend?

Many thanks
Ian

Hi Ianpal

We ran one today with added windows Hobbyking parts motor 3639-750kv on 3S(11.1 volts)5800mah Lipo battery, ESC 60A(speed controller) and 50mm x 1.4 pitch plastic prop.
This will lift up the old girl skirts.
