mmmmmmmmmmmmmm ....Colin.....I would tend to think you should save those Marx 3:1 monopile motors....not sure that they could have ever functioned in an aeroplane  :o .... Derek

Here is the blurb on the Speed 600 Eco from the Westbourne Models web site -

Graupner Speed 600 Eco Pt No 3323 Ref: 2100
One of the best of the series for General Scale Model Boating
Low-cost, current-saving versatile Speed Eco motor for a wide spectrum of applications.
Specs:Nominal voltage 7,2 V Operating voltage range 6 ... 9,6 V No-load rpm 11000 minNo-load current drain 1 A Current drain at max. efficiency 7,5 A
Current drain when stalled 50 A
Length of case, excl. shaft 57 mm Diameter 37 mmShaft diameter 3,17 mm Weight 220 g

It would seem that they are a good motor. I would assume that the other Graupners would also be excellent motors in the right situation, depending on model type and size.

Peter.

Keep all the motors.  In time you will use them all. You can never have enough motors.

Thank you gentlemen for your input . Peter it didn't occur to me to look for them in boat model shops doh!! Ok back in the cupboard with them until needed.

Derek The gear was to be on a sizeable Catalina using the same mechanism as the full size.

Thanks again colin

With the current supply situation you would be wise to hang on to them

Such selfless sacrifice from Brian there, what a top bloke.  %%

Nice little stockpile of motors, as others have said, you'll kick yourself one day if you put them on the 'bay.

No problem glad to be of service :}

Seriously though, I had two of the Marx monopiles, when I packed up my remaining model stuff and sent it off to my Spanish address, I found 20 years of storage had not done them any good. Onemotor casing had rusted  and it was impossible to turn it over by hand. Connecting a battery to it  got  a dead short, so make sure they do turn over ok before assigning them to a model.

Another smart move with electrical bits if they are going to be stored for and length of time is to put a sachet of silica gel in the boxes
