It all depends on what experience you have. The hulls and superstructure can be made from fibreglass, wood, vac formed plastic etc. Do you want yo build from plans, kits etc. Billings  make some good kits but they are not necessarily good for beginners. Lots of people will recommend the different kits available. Look up on mayhem as there are plenty of examples and build logs of most types of lifeboat.

Jim...our resident lifeboat champion MBM builder member 'Neil' is temporally indisposed off site [ :police: ] and I do not intend to raise any hackles of the moderators by discussing this further

Having said this I know Neil will offer both common sense and worldly advice on his return in a week or so....... :-))........ Derek

Hi Jim, as Klunk says there are lots of different types and sizes of lifeboats available
Have a good look and then ask about the boat/boats you would like to build and
what scale, then we could possibly advise you about a build.

Hi Jim,
If you go to the Lifeboat section of the forum, you will find lots of information about all diferent types of Model Lifeboats. This link will take you to a thread about the Billings Waveney, which may be the one that you are considering building:

I, myself would steer clear of the Billings Waveney.
There are much better options as the Lifeboatmen
on the Forum will hopefully provide for you.
