I'm so confused right about now.....

guys I'm now so confused I think I've turned my brain inside out. Rather than ask the enevetable what motor do I put in this... I'm asking (as a layman!! :embarrassed: ) how do I work out what motor to use? I have four models that I wish to change over to brushless plus I'm looking to start building the next model but have no clue what motors to choose, how to match prop to motor and also shaft size.... I know I'm asking a lot but hopefully I'll be able to do this once and try to be less dense!


I have three direct drives all on m4 shafts and one gearbox driven. How much difference does this make?!

What kind of boats (type, dimensions, scale ...) ?
What types of props (diameter, general type...) ?
What RPM ?


From there it's quite easy to figure out what BLDC motor to get.

Right.... The first is a robbe princess weighing in at 1.5kg running an 'roqua' motor(first picture!) this model is 600 overall and 220 beam. Currently it's running a 45 plastic prop but I'm quite willing to change it! (7.2v)


The second and third are a mfa spearfish single topedo 850 running on 12v with another 45 plastic and a mfa fantome running two 850s again on 45 plastic and 12v. Not sure on weight and scales sorry!


Lastly there's the duck..... That's needing a full running gear change and a diet as he is a little heavy! (Life size!)
