"Smit Vision"?
« on: February 08, 2015, 07:25:40 pm »

Hello!
I've started a new build during this autumn, it's the Tian Jie "Salvirile/Salvision". I made some changes to the superstructure today so I'm thinking about making her a Smit vessel in par with my Smit London. They are both 1:75. Reason for the change of design is that I thought her aft bridge was a bit to big, and as I'm not going to work there I simply made it smaller! Perhaps I gained some courage from the beverage on site. So far it's been a joy to build, everything fits so good together.

All the best!

Hello!
Searched the web for reference pictures and found out that the two original vessels got at least five new sisterships during 2013. Teras Ariel and sisters of Teras Offshore. http://www.terasoffshore.com/?p=section&sub=article&articlegrppk=81&articlepk=129
But as I've altered mine already I'm free to make whatever of it. :P
I mentioned Smit, could be Maersk also, Maersk Vision/Virile? %)
Got some more done this week, I'll take a Picture.
All the best!

Thanks to you both!
As for motors, I'm not sure yet. There is a premounted motor tray that will allow for 400 motors. I bought a MFA 385 for my Kong Olav that I really like so perhaps a pair of those? For the moment I'm about to buy another kit so no funds to buy running gear at the moment. Bad priorities I now, but hey it's a new day tomorrow.

Hello!
Finally some progress on this one. Got some paint on her. Also made some hatches for access to rudder and motors. Things will speed up a bit now I hope..
More pictures to follow.

..and some colour for the superstructure. Neither the hull nor the superstructure colours are spot on but as you'll probably guess she will be Maersk Vision instead.

Time to paint some fittings soon.

Finally some progress on this one!
Its been sitting on the shelf for more than four years, but now the drive train and basic electrics is done. Started on the lights and have fitted three of four nav lights as well as work lights in the towing gear room. Will ad some deck lights and floodlights. After that the details can go on.

Thanks both of you!
Yes, I too have some projects that never seems to get finished. But I just finished the small passenger boat Sologa that I started in -92 and now I'm on my way to make good progress on this one. Sorry to say that I have two more started builds and at least a couple more on the wishlist..
Steve, yes she is a bit overpowered. Two 385 motors ain't that much perhaps, but driving two fantastic four bladed brass props that were supplied in the kit makes her go!!

God Morgon hamma

You say she is 'a bit' overpowered, so is this image overscale speed?...as she is certainly 'plouging' a large bucket of water here  O0

God morgon Derek!
You know she's on technical trial tour so we need to test her full ability!
About 1/4 throttle is enough but that extra power might be useful if you need to move an oil rig or something..

And today it was time for some severe weather trials. All good, but I need to improve the water integrity of the superstructure. Some water penetrates under the superstructure and over the coaming. Other then that, all good. Home and get on with the detailing.

Hi Hama,

Nice nice boat and love the bow wave. out of interest, what have you used to seal the rear hatches?

Hello, and thanks!
The rear hatch over the rudders is sealed with self adhesive tape as I don't plan to open it unless something breaks. The one over the motors has a seal and screws. Both are made from perspex or similar so you can see what's going on down below without opening up the hatches. The scale deck on top is held down by magnets.
Thanks for your interest!

Thanks the reply and I really like the perspex idea for the inner hatch cover. Will use that on mine. :-))
