Do a search using AMMONIA as the key word. I found 20 references to bending wood/planking

I bought household ammonia form Boots chemist. You do not need to soak your wood for very long, 10-20 minutes, as the ammonia changes the chemical composition and you can end up with mush. Unless you are bending thick wood or wanting very tight curves I'd stick with water and or steam.
