Fair enough, but that battery/motor combination looks more like a narrow boat to me. I've seen more Huntsman models trundling round like canal boats than I care to remember. You read it here.

Test went well last Sunday more than enough speed at full throttle but I want some endurance as well.

I can install Lipo batts if required I use Lipos in my Dogboat in photo above.

There is something about boat modelling in wood. The colours and the way the ply curves, it is a lovely piece Graham:O)

Hi can anybody tell me which issue of Marine Modelling Magazine carried the article on Roy Skeates Fairmile D build.

I had the Mag and gave it away I am trying to get some detail of the bridge area on the later boats I understand that later boats moved controls from STB to Port.

LRRC 040 that I am building was ex MTB 744.

Hi
I am using 3639-1100kv motor with 37mm x 1.4 pitch prop on 5800mah 3S 40C Lipo battery.
I think with the two motors your scale speed will not be a problem.
These motors will run on 4S (14.8 volts) OK, I run one about 10 times in a deep vee with no water cooling.
It only got warm after 1/2 hour of hard run time.
Nice boat and with some one that served on one giving info about the little things that make it prefect.

Loving this :-)) I am going to build one next. I need to get a hull first, and intend on using the battle craft fittings. I am not sure what boat it will be, I will have to do some research on the subject, not my usual thing these boats. Thank you for sharing. :-)) Regards. Phil

A great build, looking forward to seeing your work. That is a quality hull. This model will be very impressive in the water when she is complete.

Lovely progress. I like the ventilators, they add a victorian touch to the boat.

hello there Graham

I have a photocopy of the Marine Modelling article of the Fairmile D build.   However, it is a very poor copy and every time I try to photocopy the copy it turns out with a black mass - I do though have Model Boats issue June 1976 in which John Pritchard has an article of the Royal Airforce Rescue Launch (the large Fairmile D one) and there are several drawings and a couple of photographs to go with the article.    If you haven't got this article and would like it - can you forward me your email address? and I will scan it and send it to you.

Your model is looking good and look forward to progress report.

aye
