Years ago when I was building a model sailing boat I made two rubbing strakes, left and right handed. Wife called for lunch so I lent them against the workbench and went indoors. (My Workshop was a shed in the garden) When I returned a couple of hours later, there was only one strake there, they were 3 feet long so not easy to lose. I searched, my wife searched, without success. I made another one, cursing.
6 years later we moved house, and I emptied the shed completely, my wife jokeingly said I would find that bit I lost. Never did. How can a 3 foot length of Wood disappear? The shed door was always shut, a real mystery!
