A 1/24th Sun London
« on: February 27, 2015, 10:45:27 pm »

This model is made from a set of mouldings bought from the Internet last year, they were for the Sun Kent or Essex but I have decided to alter it into the Sun London instead, it meant cutting the wheelbox away and remaking it into a bigger one and inserting the funnel into the back of it, after that the build was quite easy.as the pictures  show.

Hi, looks like a great model.  How did you do the edging around the windows?

hi after final finishing the window shapes, all I do is cut strips of plastic and about 3mm wide, then put a blank behind the window on the inside, then lay the plastic strip around the window holeand push it against the blank and tack it with thick superglue, then remove the blank and run the glue around the frame on the inside.  Geo

Really nice! A great model of a great looking tug. I like the looks of both Sun London and Sun Kent. Looking forward to on the water shots, any chance of a full profile photo in the meantime?
All the best!

Here she is on her initial trials which went very well indeed ,she pulled 24lbs on a spring balance, quite a powerfull beasty.  there are also a couple of her running mate the Margam which I built earlier

First class they look great. They just oooz power but with a prop that size it is not surprising. Makes me wonder if it is not time for me to build another tug ;)
