Some very nice pictures, I will have to take some when I go on my narrow boat holiday in two weeks time. I'll be going over the Llangollen aquaduct. Just hope the weather is good for picture taking.

I think it's just the angle I took the photo from Derek. I can guarantee the waterline is symmetrical O0

Some shots taken in the Panama Canal in 2008 from the QE2, notice just how close to the sides of the lock the big ships are. They are being kept clear by the drivers of the mules, up to 4 on each side depending on the size of the ship, but the ships use their own engines to move through the locks. The mules do act as brakes though.

When a ship survey goes wrong.
The first surveyor thought it would be great to level the ship.
On the second day, there was some murmuring about a negative constant.
When we picked up the second surveyor things started to get in a snit.
After running another agent to a ship on the lower we returned to this...
Apparently a complete reset of the ballast.
No one was coming down that ladder in the torrent.  :o

Maybe not a 'great' photo Martin, but to it means a lot to me. After 30+ years of sailing in many yachts, all single-handed, illness forced me to retire from this great recreation and take up an even more fascinating one - making model ships. This was my last sail on my Corribee 21 at a typically atmospheric Irish sunset on Galway Bay in 2009 when I handed it to its new owner.
Sorry about the quality but I could not make it larger. (Yes, it is a Junk-rig!)
