First time I'd ever heard harmonics played on an electric bass. A truly gifted guy.

A favourite of my Dad...and me too as it happens. A great loss to the industry.

I saw Free in Norwich years ago, before they were really famous...a damn good band they were then.

Another good man taken far too early...RIP, Andy Fraser.

RIP Andy,
What a talent! you will be greatly missed. I can remember being in Newquay in the early seventies with the lads (all apprentices on holiday) we saw Free live can't remember the venue but what a band. The other guys on the camp site went to see "Christie" of yellow river fame, wrong choice boys. Now we only have Paul Rodgers left living from the original band, sad.

FF
Simon Kirke seems to be very much alive at present. Are you saying that there was a drummer with Free before him?

I thought there was a drugs related passing many years ago with Simon Kirke?

I think you're confusing him with Paul Kossoff, who was the lead guitarist.
Spend an evening on Google and You Tube with 'Free' - you won't regret it. 'Mr Big' and 'Fire and Water' are just two of the many tracks that spring to mind. Paul Rodgers is probably the best white singer from the 60's Blues Revival. Jack Bruce and Joe Cocker run him close (coincidentally last year was a bummer in that respect).

Not confusing Simon with Paul Kossof he died on a Trans Atlantic flight from a heart attack caused by drugs consumed, you could hardly mistake Paul for Simon as I remember Simon had very straight thin long hair Paul had a Lions mane.
