X craft..
« on: April 09, 2015, 10:42:38 am »

It's been a while since I completed a sub build, but here's X9 ready for painting. I hope to get the first coat of paint done today, depending on what time the good lady will be arriving.

I tempted to brush paint it...having studied X24 closely at Gosport, that looks as though it was painted by a drunken man with a yard broom, so at least I could claim it's a scale paint job...  ;D

Have you seen it since it's been restored.

All you need is a can of satin black from Halfords.

I haven't seen X24 since we did the Gosport show, Andy...she was still outside then. Having said that, I have managed to persuade the good lady that she'd enjoy a day trip to Gosport. A day spent poking about in the museum, and the promise of a posh nosh and a night in a hotel seemed to work wonders on her...

Picture below shows X22 on the dive plane of X24.

You can easily lose three or four days in Portsmouth, plenty to see and do and lots of nice places to east out.

The submarine museum is also much improved on how it was years ago.

Rich, I know if she reads this, you simply, accidentally, hit return before typing "but she is worth it".

Yes, I noticed that yesterday when I walked into your flat Rich, all the little touches that only a woman would add. Little things like cushions on the sofa  {-)
I'm expecting proper ashtrays when I come down next, no more coffee jar lids  :P

Two coats of satin black later and she looks a right heap of junk...just how I wanted it to look. Couple more little bits to do, then some weathering, rusting, etc, then she's off to the fitting out dock as soon as the radio box arrives from Adam at Mountfleet Models.

Cheers Skip...I'll be weathering her this week. Hope to have her fully operational for the Norwich weekend, with a bit of luck and a following wind.

Hi Rich
I see you have been building what is the size of it as it seems to looks quite small, looks like some think i could move about with out to much trouble. I have been on doing that Engal Gato that the missis got me but have been doing a lot of modes to it, hope you are keeping well.
